Hi,
I'm Benjamin.
I am a landscape photographer based in Minnesota. My journey with photography began in my hometown of Cherry, located in Minnesota's arrowhead region. After graduating from high school, I pursued a degree in Respiratory Therapy at Lake Superior College in Duluth, where I graduated in 2020. Throughout college and into the beginning of my career, photography remained a passionate part-time hobby. Between classes and clinical rotations, I often found myself in the nature, exploring the rugged beauty of Duluth and the north shore, camera always in tow. Photography has been more than just a hobby; it has been my sanctuary, offering an escape and allowing me to forge a deep connection with the natural world.
In addition to capturing the serene landscapes and wildlife of Minnesota, I also specialize in portrait photography. Whether it's documenting the intimate moments of an elopement, preserving the essence of senior portraits, or capturing the warmth of family gatherings, I find immense joy in creating timeless images that tell stories and evoke emotions.
Through my photography, I aim to share not just images, but emotion—a glimpse into the tranquility and wonder that surrounds us, encouraging others to pause, appreciate, and find their own moments of solace in the natural world.
Why I call Minnesota Home
Growing up in northern Minnesota, I was surrounded by natural beauty that inspired a lifelong love for the outdoors. Like many Minnesotans, my summers were filled with weekends spent at the lake, where I found myself fishing, kayaking, and hiking. As the seasons changed from summer to fall and winter, my outdoor adventures continued with skiing, snowmobiling, and snowshoeing. Each activity brought me closer to nature, and I began to appreciate the stunning landscapes and serene moments that surrounded me. During my childhood is when I first discovered my passion for photography. Starting with a film camera, I began capturing anything that caught my attention. By the age of 13, I had saved up for my first digital camera, which opened up new possibilities for creativity and expression. Since then, photography has been my means of preserving and sharing the beauty I see in Minnesota and beyond.
From Duluth to Southern Minnesota
During the pandemic, I met the love of my life while living and working in Duluth. While Duluth remains with my heart, life and career opportunities led me to a new chapter in southern Minnesota. Today, I reside in Owatonna with my husband and our two beloved dogs. Living in southern Minnesota has opened up fresh avenues for photography and exploration. Despite the changes life brings, I still find myself among the escaping for the northern woods.
